Is Christianity offensive?
For the second year in a row, President Obama has cancelled the public prayer service held in the White House on the National Day of Prayer. Maybe it's because Obama doesn't want to offend anybody.
My question is, why are people offended by Christians? The answer is simple... We make them uncomfortable. Yep, that's right. We call people out on their sin, and even though we try to do it in the most loving way we can, people don't like to be shown their iniquities.
Jesus didn't pull any punches, He called em like He saw em. He called the Pharisees out on their over litigious piety time and time again. He called out the group of Isrealites who was going to stone the adultress, telling he who was without sin to cast the first stone. Jesus was in people's faces. Not out of spite, but out of love. He didn't "look the other way" when it came to sin.
Jesus told us it would be this way too.. Luke 21:12 says "But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name" (NIV) and Luke 21:17 tells us "All men will hate you because of me"
Thats why I belive Christianity is offensive. If Christians are living for Him, and walking with Him, then our attempts to be holy should offend. If its offensive to be a Christian, then I'm proud to be offensive.
Did I offend you? Yes? GOOD... maybe you will think about talking to someone about Christianity and seeing what its really about!
Well history shows a lot of examples of the truth offending people so if being true to Jesus is going to offend some people, well then let them be offended, not my problem. As you say it's something to be proud of.
I agree with you! It really shows something about Obama's character as well.
He is more worried about offending people than speaking the truth.
