Siddhartha Gautama founded Buddhism because he couldn’t reconcile the reality of suffering, judgement, and evil with the existence of a good and holy God.

Buddha’ means ‘Enlightened One’, and is a title given to Buddhim’s founder.
In what are the essential elements of Buddhism summarized?
The essential elements of Buddhism are summarized in the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.
How does their belief about suffering differ from the biblical view?
They believe that suffering is caused by craving, and that suffering will cease only when the cravings ceases, which they try to accomplish by following the Noble Eightfold Path. In the Bible God tells us that suffering is a result of man’s sin and that all suffering will cease in heaven fro those who place their trust in Christ.
In what ways are their key doctrines similar to the beliefs of Hindus?
Their views are similar to the Hindus’ in that individual selves do not truly exist (they’re an illusion), they believe in Karma and reincarnation, and the goal of life is eventually extinguishing personal existence
